Ness is canonically fat (or at least chubby) at the start of the game and he doesn't turn evil

What does that make Picky?
Do you think your mind would eventually just stop functioning after having absolutely no stimulation in here? Obviously you wouldn't ever be able to die but I feel like after a long time you'd just be reduced to a husk only considered alive by pure technicality
I'm 99% sure that's happened to people in real life but I'm not too confident about the results
I know there's a guy who appeared to be comatose but was still fully conscious and eventually powered through long enough to communicate with a nurse via blinking to let people know he was still thinking.
IIRC he was fueled by his utter fricking hatred toward the hospital tv showing reruns of Barney & Friends that he had to sit through for years- Anonymous

Good plot for Mother 4, the main villain is named Lee

Porky and Picky
It's a matter of how they eat foods
Porky's like a pig so he's fat
Picky's picky so he's skinny
It's a weight joke

His parents were awful and his friendship with Ness was flawed
Porky genuinely DID see Ness as his only friend (as shown in Mother 3) even though he did a poor job at showing it so when Ness' silence came across as rejection of their friendship being repaired after the Happy Happyism incident (Japanese script, the localization has Porky say sike) Porky took it personally (though I'm not sure if he was genuinely influenced by the Mani-Mani Statue or not at that point)
He also stole a helicopter and didn't actually know how to properly pilot the damn thing so he crashed in the literal darkest area in the globe but miraculously didn't die - Anonymous

Deep down, Ness truly believes Pokey wants to be his friend. And given that he kept Ness' yo-yo like a treasured artifact, he was probably right.
Pokey was just too much of an obnoxious little brat.

I like to think part of his vendetta was seeing Ness "replace" him with actual friends with the rest of The Chosen Four (starting with a girl no less) and became envious and spiteful.
He wasn't chosen, he's left behind like Naru from Sailor Moon except unlike Naru he chose to take action in a negative way.
Sure he didn't WANT to be chosen anyways because of the danger but it's not like he wanted to see the closest person he had to a friend just leave him and he did seek out grandeur possibly wanting to impress his dad as well given he accompanied him to Fourside.
I don't think Ness was the "unpopular" kid but his "friendship" with Porky probably did him no favors in socializing with others
Had he not been so impatient or short-sighted or petty, he could've been a supporting friend to the Chosen Four ala Tony
We know via Magicant that even if Ness' silence meant skepticism and hesitation, he truly wishes Porky was repentant and that whatever bond they did have could be salvaged
It wasn't until he ran away from everyone in the end that made it harder and harder for him to be redeemed until he let himself age into the lonely, miserable monster he became. - Anonymous

He's just Eric Cartman in videogame form. He's an antithesis of what Ness is supposed to be, someone who stand alongside evil for his own material gain and personal pleasure rather than fight against it.- Anonymous

He really is Cartmanesque in the way he constantly seems to set himself up in positions of authority be it in Happy Happy village or Monetolli's company just to gloat like an butthole. And does everything just to frick with you, because ultimately he's just that petty. I wonder if Matt or Trey ever played Earthbound. I know they said they mostly based Cartman off of Archie Bunker or something, but still. It just feels right.

Trey Parker played it, even referred to it as Mother (he's fluent in Japanese so there's a very slim chance he could be talking about Mother 1) in a podcast
They outright cited Earthbound as a key inspiration for Stick of Truth
>We're big gamers and I think what was inspiring the game was a lot more lofty than what we could pull off. I was a big fan of it and what I kept thinking in my mind was EarthBound.
>I haven't played it [EarthBound] again in forever, but I just remember something being about 'Oh wow, I'm a little kid in a house and there's my mom and I go outside my house and am fighting like an ant and a little mouse.' It started out feeling so real. I kept having in my head 'do I really want [South Park: The Stick of Truth] to feel like that you are a little kid and you're playing this game and bigger s**t ends up happening.' But I really loved that feeling that EarthBound had of 'I'm a cute little kid in my neighborhood and we're running around playing a game.'https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/07/south_park_creators_cite_earthbound_as_a_major_inspiration_for_their_own_game

Considering Trey and Matt loved the Mother series and Trey is a weeb and talked about it being a big influence of South Park, Cartman is actually Pokey in Cartoon form I guess kek

It's less about capitalism and more about materialism
As bad as Porky was, the people of Tazmily would have inevitably shifted into that direction - Anonymous

He's an allegory for sentimentality being bad. He has all of his toys in his room and earthbound memorabilia. He doesn't want to grow up or die. But at the same time Itoi is sentimental about the situation at Tazmily village and encroaching modernity.
So it's strange. But i guess i get it. It's really about capitalism specifically.
